The AI Uppsala and AI Västerås initiatives were created to bring the business community together and lower the barriers to applied AI, with a focus on business and operational value. They also aimed to create a local meeting place where people could network, talk and learn about AI. We have delivered on this by organising networking meetings, lectures and panel discussions. When we founded SHANGRI-LAB, it felt natural to incorporate the initiatives as a part of our business.

Our ambition does not stop at events, however. We are currently exploring the possibility of establishing a dedicated AI hub in Uppsala, a concept that could later be extended to Västerås as well. The idea is for the hub to be an innovative co-working space for companies that are AI-native or AI-first. Our vision is to create a physical space for innovation where startups, consultants and other small companies can exchange ideas and experience every day. This could spark collaboration and accelerate development for the companies in the hub. We firmly believe Uppsala needs a meeting place for AI, one that can also attract talent, investors, businesses, the public sector and other stakeholders.
